EU Council Resource Centre – Free Movement and Migration web site

A new resource from the EU Council:  “Check out our new online resource centre: http://www.eucouncilfiles.eu/.  It contains everything there is to know about free movement and migration….”

The site contains several folders for specific topics including:  Southern Neighbourhood (contains, among other things, updated statistics of migrants flows since the beginning of the current crisis);  Asylum, and  Migration.

One response to “EU Council Resource Centre – Free Movement and Migration web site

  1. Mathijs

This website built in the context of the Council summit of 23/24 June 2011 seems to have disappeared already.

Would anyone know if this resource is still available somewhere on the web?

For those who have seen it, what, if anything, did you find remarkable about the information and/or the way it was presented?

In order to try and contribute at least a piece of the puzzle myself, I wanted to leave here the text of the first press message by the Council Press Editor which was forwarded to me.

“Free movement and migration – one of the main topics of the upcoming European Council

A special website is launched today – as a resource centre featuring, among other things:

    * Key events and EU actions in the area of migration since the beginning of the year

    * Migration flows in the Mediterranean (an interactive map – updated on a regular basis)

    * Relevant videos related to the subject (e.g. on Frontex operation Hermes, interviews with key players, etc.)

    * The story of Schengen and factsheets on migration, asylum, borders, visas etc. (incl. links to all key legislation)

    * Latest news and upcoming events (incl. links to the main Council and Commission documents, speeches etc.)

Until the European Council, this website will be regularly updated with the latest documents, decisions, initiatives and statistics.”
